Stardes Self-Drive

Our varied self-drive fleet comprises: 7.49T Box Vans, Splitters, Mini-Buses, Mini- Splitters, and Sprinter Vans.

Stardes offer a full delivery and collection service to and from anywhere in the UK – (subject to a minimum hire period of 5 days).  Our trained and courteous delivery staff will explain the operation of the vehicles upon delivery.

We do have a 2 day minimum hire period for our vehicles and discounts may be available for long-term rentals.

Stardes - Self Drive Terms

Insurance

Deposit: As we declare our interest in the entertainment industry, we have an insurance excess of £2000.00 - The hirer is made liable for the first £1000.00 of any damage, theft or misuse, hence we charge a £1000.00 deposit.

The deposit is refundable on termination of hire, less any fuel and damages.

Drivers and Additional Drivers

All drivers must be 25 years of age or over, and have held a UK driving licence for not less than 3 years.
(For splitter's and mini-buses you must have a category D1, or have held your licence since before 1997)

NON-UK licence holders will need to be proposed separately and in advance.

Insurance is restricted to 2 drivers per vehicle - Any additional drivers are charged at £3.00 per day + VAT for each driver.
 

Methods of Payment

Accepted methods of  payment are debit / credit card*, cheque or by bank transfer. Settlement is due in full (including deposit) before collection of vehicle. (*at a fee of 2.5% for Visa and Mastercard, or 3% for Amex – there is a £0.50p charge for payments made via Solo, Switch or Maestro)

Non-payment will result in the vehicle being withheld.

Cancellation:

Should you cancel your booking, you will be liable for a cancellation fee of at least 10%, and up to 100% depending on the notice period given.

Fines and Charges:

You are responsible for any charges or fines imposed while the vehicle is in your custody.  Any fines received by us will be billed on, along with a handling fee.

Delivery & Collection

Any delivery fee quoted is to cover the return train fare of our driver, and a contribution towards that driver’s wages. Any fuel used is charged to the client.

Deliveries can be made between 08.00 - 14.00 - Subject to Location -

Service only available on hires over 5 days, unless specific arrangements are made with our office.

Collections can be made between 12.30 - 18.00

Deliveries and collections can be made outside these times at additional cost.

ALL VEHICLES DEPART FROM OUR YARD WITH A FULL TANK OF FUEL - ANY FUEL REQUIRED TO RE-FILL IS CHARGEABLE.

Continental & UK Travel      

As we do not levy a mileage charge, our vehicle hire is perfect for long-term and long-distance travel.

For European travel a Green Card is required, subject to insurance approval.

Note: All continental use must be approved by Stardes before travel commences.

MAN 8180 7.49 ton Twin Bunk Sleeper Cabs (This vehicle falls within the scope of an Operators Licence)  
Specially customised by Stardes to provide a comfortable sleeper cab with a tail lift, these trucks are ideal for very large back line or theatre tours.  They are equipped to the level of a large truck, but can be driven by anyone who holds a category C1 licence. Swift and stylish vehicles with 136 BHP turbo-charged diesel engines -

Ideal for bands and parties of up to 12 people, the vehicle has the advantage of a separate luggage area and the driver has a fold-down bunk for their comfort during rest periods. Dimensions of luggage area: 6'1" Width x 6'4" Height x 5'8" Length

With its responsive 2.9 litre turbo-charged diesel engine, this vehicle combines speed with a luxuriously equipped interior, and accommodates the driver plus 9 passengers, add to this a separate luggage area which makes it the ideal all-in-one touring vehicle.

Stardes Mini Splitters offer a high-specification sound system, a DVD player, Playstation 2, and a TV monitor in the saloon area. Dimensions of luggage area: 5'8" Width x 6' Height x 5'4" Length

These vehicles have powerful 2.9 litre turbo-diesel engines, and a secure load area with a 13.4 cubic metre (13.4m3) capacity.  They are equipped with the latest driver comforts, and are ideal for merchandising and back-line requirements. 13.4 cubic metre (13.4m3) load capacity

The document, "What to do if I am involved in an accident"(click for pdf version) should be followed in order to assist in any insurance claim you may later make or defend.

Our insurers apply certain restrictions, and only two 2 minor licence endorsements are acceptable (3-6 pts) - Anything over this will need to be proposed to our insurers.

Any person driving a hire vehicle without our express permission will, for legal purposes, be deemed to be driving without insurance.

Hire vehicles come with an accident kit.
